Traditionally, the act of soaking dry fruits in liquor like rum, brandy, or wine symbolized preserving the harvest and preparing for the cold winter months. 


The fruits and nuts soaked during this ceremony are later used in rich plum cakes, a Christmas delicacy. The ceremony involves everyone, regardless of age, contributing to the mixing, symbolizing collaboration and harmony.

It’s a time for bonding and creating lasting memories with loved ones or colleagues. The process allows the fruits and nuts to absorb the flavors of the alcohol and spices, enhancing the taste and aroma of the Christmas cake.
